May 13, 2023 we will Celebrate and Raise Funds for the Alex T. Powderly Memorial Scholarship

You are invited to a very special night for a very special cause.

Welcome to the first annual fundraiser for the Alex Powderly Memorial fund.

Alex Powderly was a fun-loving Junior at Cape Central high school when he was stricken with a rare form of cancer in his spine. This cancer paralyzed Alex within a matter of days from his diagnosis and we lost Alex 9 months later on September 26, 2021.

Alex loved everything about Cape Central. When he was younger he would say “I wanna be a Tiger like you were Dad”. Alex was more than just a Tiger, as his vibrant personality and huge smile will never be forgotten throughout the halls of Cape Central. He seemed to be a friend to all and loved every one!

Alex loved sports, as he played on the soccer, baseball, and football team. He was also very proud to have played the Saxophone in the Jazz band. At home, Alex loved playing the drums and guitar to numerous 80’s hair bands. He amazed me at how he could listen to a song once and then just pound it out on the drums! I wouldn’t be lying if I said he was a better drummer than I am, and I’ve been playing drums for forty years. Whether it be sports or music, Alex was a natural and he just loved doing all of them at Cape Central. “ He loved being a Tiger”! I like to pretend to take all the credit but he wouldn’t have been Alex without my wife Lori. Clearly, the best of Alex was his witty sense of humor, his never-ending smile, and his huge heart! He was such a fun-loving kid that would just about do anything for anyone! Lori and I are so proud of Alex.

This now brings us to the Alex Powderly Memorial fund. Last year in our first year we gave away two scholarships to two Cape Central Seniors, a young man, and a young lady. These scholarships helped them both with their college tuition cost. Our goal is to be able to continue to give out scholarships every year to Cape Central seniors in memory of Alex. Wouldn’t that just be incredible to be able to continue to do this for 10, 20, or even 50 + years! Lori and I can’t do this by ourselves, we need your help!

On Saturday, May 13th you are invited to a private party at our home where our band, “The Switch” will take the stage. Way back in 1988 and 89 we headlined at the World famous Whiskey a Go-Go and the Troubadour in Los Angeles. We will be playing your favorite hits from the 70s and 80s along with several of our own songs from our older recording days. Just to be clear, “we won’t be wearing our spandex”, lol those days are long gone.

Accompanying the entertainment will be a catered dinner with refreshments and adult beverages throughout the night. This event starts at 6:00 PM followed by dinner and drinks and the band will soon follow cranking up the tunes and taking you back in time.

Limited space is available for this private and very special night. Tickets are $250.00 per couple or $150 each. If you can’t make the event please consider donating $50.00, $100.00, or whatever you are comfortable with to the Alex Powderly Memorial fund. Thank you so much for your consideration. Give your kids an extra hug tonight and God Bless you!
